Dr. Sarah Hillis
Registered Clinical Psychologist
With 28 years of experience working as a psychologist in both a teaching hospital and a private practice setting, I have strong psychotherapy skills. My understanding of attachment, trauma, and emotional functioning allows me to rapidly assess the factors that contribute to an individual's distress, or to a couple's distress, and intervene to move clients to more optimal functioning in the shortest time possible.
Throughout my lengthy career, I have had the privilege of witnessing the improved mental health and functioning of hundreds of clients who can once again, or sometimes for the first time laugh, work, and have better relationships.

Reaching out for psychotherapy can be hard. I approach this relationship with complete respect and trust for the individual(s), but also bring my knowledge of how mental health problems develop and how they are treated so that you are once again in a position of resilience and well being. Please feel free to contact me if I can be of assistance.

Experience and Education
Following completion of my undergraduate degree at the University of Toronto and my Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology at the University of Saskatchewan in 1997, I worked as a psychologist at the Saskatchewan Health Authority, initially in Psychiatric Rehabilitation and Neuropsychology, and then for 26 years in Clinical Health Psychology treating complex psychological issues. At the same time, I supervised and taught psychotherapy for treatment of complex psychological issues and diagnostic skills to doctoral residents. In addition to specializing in clinical psychology, health psychology, and rehabilitation psychology, I am a fellow in the psychodynamic section of the Canadian Psychological Association, a Clinical Associate in the Department of Psychiatry and a Professional Affiliate in the Department of Psychology at the University of Saskatchewan. More recently, I work in a private practice offering psychotherapy for individuals and couples and consultation for registered mental health professionals.
